Abstract

Robot-assisted surgery is a rapidly evolving surgical approach that relies on advanced and sophisticated technology. A well-defined and structured educational process is essential for mastering this type of procedure. A structured surgical pathway allows trainees to shorten the learning curve and achieve outcomes comparable to those of their mentors, after completing the full educational program. The training itself starts with getting familiar with the robotic system da Vinci® under the supervision from a professional coach. Subsequently, the trainee simulate basic movements in a simulator. Realistic practice of basic operating techniques can be achieved thanks to cadavers or special models. This paper presents the structure of the standardized training program in robotic colorectal surgery that is being used nowadays.
